In my leadership journey, I have experienced uncertainty, growth, and transformation precipitated by certain practices I have adopted. Whether transitioning between roles or managing daily workplace challenges, I have discovered that these do not always need to be significant actions—they are the small, consistent actions that create ripple effects in our personal and professional lives.


For example, one of the most powerful habits I have adopted is to set an intention for my day. This practice has been beneficial during difficult times when I feel overloaded with work. Every morning, while enjoying a very hot shower, I think about what is important to me for that day. Slowly, this ritual became a valuable instrument for determining my objectives and helped me to work more effectively and not lose sight of the main goals. It has also helped me stay true to myself and be selfless in my position.


Another of the most beneficial habits that has shaped my leadership is working to build trust by delegating work. In the early stage of my career, I thought I had to solve every problem independently and could not trust others to perform specific tasks. I didn’t fully grasp the importance of teamwork until I purposefully began giving my team members essential tasks to handle. I found that assigning tasks to other people wasn’t just a way of reducing my burden but also encouraging teamwork, generating new ideas, and improving my team members’ commitment. It showed me that trust is the ability to take a risk and how one can come up with new ideas.


These practices, among others, have assisted me in dealing with hardships, building rapport with my colleagues, and sustaining a positive attitude when facing changes. Reflecting on my leadership is essential for setting an example and helps me to develop better habits. When we decide to lead with purpose and ensure that our actions align with our principles, every team member has an opportunity for self-development.
